Pagans Have More Fun

I couldn’t wait to get to Starwood so I left Monday. I was hoping to get there before the rain. I was a bit intimidated even though few people were there, so I safely set up camp in the Dark Moore far from the masses. It rained that night.

The next morning more people were showing up and I began to talk to my neighbors. It was boring not knowing anyone and with no classes running since it was registration day. I decided to volunteer my time to help ACE set up for the week. I ended up mowing the grass around the “Time Machine” for a few hours.

Wednesday morning I got up and walked around checking out all the tents that had already been set up. I walked to the athletic field and found a group of kids hanging out. I talked them into playing a few games of volleyball with me. Other people joined in after a couple games with the kids, I think I even had people watching. Somewhere in all of this I had been to the Pufferdome, a huge enclosed structure that was supported only by a bubble of air.

After noon I went to “So Much More Then Dance”. It was a workshop discussing how to use dance to move energy through the body and open the Chakras. We did a cool little exercise where we split into groups of 3 with people we didn’t know; which was easy for me. We then had to each dance a color for 1 min. and listen to the others in our group reflect on what they observed.

I decided I should try to meet people so I went to check out the Fairie Woods "Meet and Greet". I showed up early and ran into one of my partners from the dance class. She introduced me to the Café, run by the Coven of the Rising Sun. It was an open canopy that would mix you a drink for free; tips appreciated. Great place and fun people there, someone mixed me an Amazon Floozy and I talked a while with my new friends. By the time the Café closed I had missed my next class, so I went back to the Fairie Woods to listen to its residence sit around a fire talking about gay bars and other silly stuff.

As it got dark I decided that I would go check a privet event, that I had heard that a Viking camp was holding in the woods beyond the Dark Moore. I traveled up the road past my tent and followed the sound of muffled voices. I came upon the Viking Camp and proceeded to the back to watch the "Beat and Greet". It was soft BDSM, at least while I was there, it started to rain soon after I arrived and I decided staying dry was of a higher priority.

Thursday morning I walked around for hours like usual. I tried to attend a class on using green products but I got tiered of waiting and headed over to the “Masks in Ritual” class. I had missed part of it and the use of masks was a foreign idea to me. Eventually we were told to pair up and try the masks that the teacher had brought. We had to don the mask we selected and try to act it out; dance it. We tried a few different masks, each time giving feedback to one another. I stayed after the class to check out “Myth of the Judeo-Christian Tradition”.

After lunch I checked out “Pagan Speed Networking”. I met more good people there and stayed to talk with a few for a while. I considered going to the Café but ended up stopping to watch the end of naked twister. I got my didjerydoos when that was nearing a conclusion and went to listen to Steven Kent. He had a lot of great information, but I just couldn’t sit still. I decided to go for a walk and happened across a few people, including one who recognized me from the Networking class. They invited me to go “Trick or Drinking” with them. I accepted and hurried back to my tent to deposit my didjes and grab a cup. I met back up with the group and we went around asking for alcohol and raising toasts to the many generous souls that shared there drink. We ended up at the Café and then Babylon where they fed us as they got ready for the strippers and Pirates. The Pirates sang while some danced on and around the stripper pole. I needed more to drink if I was going to watch this, so I stumbled over to Magpie Farm’s stand and tried some mead; for a price. I ended up buying the bottle and finishing it that night. There was a butterfly there at Babylon with a flower staff and belly dancer jinglies around her waist. I ended up talking to her the whole night and sharing a couple swigs of my mead.

Friday, I woke up with a headache, felt like a bleed in my occipital lobe Right side. I walked around for a while and bought a tail, I figure since I like girls with tails perhaps I could bate one with a tail of my own ;). I ended up at “The Art of Possession” and was informed that I missed the chocolate ritual. Chocolate was shared and chocolate got rid of my headache. The class was informative and gave me a new way to think about the dead and thought forms. After the class I talked with a few people before loading up my tent. I had decided I would leave and try to be home by Saturday morning in order to make sure the people buying my house on Monday had not done anything I would regret. I am thinking now I should have stayed and enjoyed the last couple of days.

I had time to attend one more class before I left and took “Necromancy in the Ancient World”. Great class, gave me a lot of ideas, but my mind was already elsewhere. I ran into another friend from the Networking class as I left, and said my goodbyes.
